We went camping with some friends to the beach in Rhode Island at the end of August. I didn't have much faith in a beach being very nice that far north, but it was actually even nicer than the beach I grew up with (though the water was definitely colder). The trip started out badly with us forgetting the bag with the kids clothes and diapers, along with some rain, but the next day the sky cleared up and we couldn't have asked for better weather. The kids loved the beach and Sam has been begging to go back ever since.

Hey...question for you - my neighbor LOVES to camp, but has only ever been camping up north, near the Can. border...are there any good places closer to home?
